Hello Toastmasters,
Virtual Speech Contests are ON!
This is your opportunity to have fun, while staying home and keeping your family safe. A number of Virtual contests will take place this Saturday. Check them out on our calendar.
This is new to all of us, but it may be an exciting new way to participate. All you need to do is download Zoom here. It’s free, and just takes a couple of minutes. Then follow the Virtual contest link in the Calendar listing.
You can read the tutorials, and also attend the zoom conference calls tonight at 7pm. Details in a later email, and will be posted on district52.org.
Volunteers: Please read Governor Newsom’s executive order.
“We will have social pressure that will encourage people to do the right thing,” he added. “I don’t believe the people of California need to be told through law enforcement that it’s appropriate just to home isolate, to protect themselves, go about the essential patterns of life, but do so by socially distancing themselves from others and do so using your common sense.” – CA Governor Gavin Newsom
The whole point of a Virtual contest is to make sure you can stay at home, so please don’t go out to shop for pieces of equipment. The stores will be closed anyway. If you have computer issues with using zoom, please contact Circe Denyer, our Program Quality Director (PQD) at PQD@district52.org. She will help you.
Stay safe! And go have fun at a Virtual contest.
D52 District Director, Agnes Lewis
