Spring is in the air and so are the end-of-term activities in District 52. I hope you are excited as I am about finishing the year strong.
Our district leadership is working on becoming a Distinguished District. Let us continue to build new clubs, grow our memberships, and complete levels and Pathways education goals. Distinguished members make distinguished areas, divisions, and district! We can do it together!
First, save the date, District 52 will be conducting this year’s District Annual Business Meeting, online via Zoom, on Friday, May 12, 2023, at 6:30 PM, virtual room opens, and the gavel starts at 7:00 PM. The purpose of the meeting is to vote for the 2023-2024 District Officers, approve the District alignment, and review the required District business reports.
Your advance registration and attendance are important to constitute the required quorum for the successful transaction of business at this meeting. Register today: D52 Business Meeting registration and info page. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. Registration will close on May 11, 2023, at 11:59 PM PDT.
For 2023-2024 candidate info click on: view candidates. For online voting details click on: electionbuddy voting instructions. Note floor candidates must declare their intent to run no later than 11:59 pm May 5, 2023. Submit nomination to dd@district52.org
The agenda will be emailed two weeks prior to the meeting date. Questions regarding the District 52 Annual Business Meeting may be emailed by end of the day on May 5, 2023, to the District 52 Administration Manager at adminmgr@district52.org.
Next, you will not want to miss the District 52 Virtual Conference on Saturday, May 13 beginning at 10 am. Keynote speakers, education sessions, and recognitions are planned. Next up is the District 25 International and Humorous Speech contests beginning at 3:00 pm on 5/13.
I am proud of our dedicated club officers, area directors, and division directors. Clubs, work on succession planning now, identify the officers for the 2023-2024 term, and plan to hold your elections before the beginning of the new term on July 1.
For clubs with less than 8 members, I encourage you to reach out to our Club Growth Director, Ruchin Gupta, cgd@district52.org, for ideas on how to get your club to good standing.
Let us close the year strong keeping the Toastmaster’s core values at the top of our minds in everything we do: Integrity, Respect, Service, and Excellence.
Here’s to your success,
Rose Abbott, DTM
District 52 Director
